"Aria"

I think the animated short "Aria" by Pjotr Sapegin is a great depiction of how people use one another in our world. In today's world, we see people use others for a sole purpose with no intention of keeping them around once that purpose is fulfilled. That is the case here. While we do not learn of the purpose of the child, I believe it is an unfair situation towards Aria to be used and to have her child taken from her.

  1. I agree with your ideas about the film. In my own blog I wrote about the despair and heartbreak but the way you concluded that people have no intention of keeping others around is so true and powerful.

  2. I think that's an interesting take on the short. While I agree that looking at Pinkerton's actions it shows how disposable some people treat others, I also think the reverse is true. Butterfly was so determined to wait for him, and in the end her feelings of betrayal were honest and because of this, I believe she intended to be with Pinkerton.

  3. That really does make a lot of sense, and your point about how people use others with no intention of keeping them around is powerful. It puts the person being used in such a terrible situation.

  4. I actually completely get this now that I read your opinions. It is interesting how people in today's world are so easily able to throw away another person just for something new. The world is a scary place and sadly people will use people to get themselves ahead or just for the hell of it without any intentions of any long term plans.

  5. I agree with your opinions on the film and had similar thoughts of my own. The film is used to represent the power of people and control over others.

  6. Seeing your point of view of the claymation definitely helps me to rethink some of the thoughts I had, and I agree with unfairness of some people having more powers than others which resulted in her child being taken from her.
